Parts of a toy slide
The toys slide that you see has two main parts. The first and main part is the slide body, and second is the slide tower.
- Slide body
- Slide tower or climbing frames
Slide body is the sloping structure that the kids slide down. The toy slide body could be plain or wavy. Wavy slides have bumps in the middle for extra fun.
The slope of the slide body is neither too steep nor too flat. The surface of the slide body is smooth to allow easy sliding. The toy slide's edges are curved and without sharp corners. The bottom end of the slide body is closer to the floor level preventing sharp fall and enabling kids to easily stand up after sliding down.
The slide body can be made from any rugged material. The slide body of wooden slides are made from hard polished wood while the metal slide may be made from metals like aluminium or steel. Plastic slide bodies may be made from fiberglass or other plastic materials.
The slide body could be open at top or can be covered. Covered slide bodies are good during rains and extreme sun as they protect the kids.
Toys slide tower includes the stairs or steps. The tower is also called climber as this is what the child climbs. At the top of the slide tower is the platform that connects to the slide body.
The slide towers normally have side rails for holding. Kids can hold on to the rails for support while climbing the slide stairs. Slide rails are mandatory for taller slides and is essential for slide safety.
The slide towers may be made from the same materials used for slide body or it could be made from different material. Most common types of climbers are wooden climbers, metal climbers and plastic / fiber foam climbers.
The total height of the stair from the ground would depend on the age of the kid.
In addition to the slide body and slide tower, a slide could also contain other optional accessoriers like a slide swing, slide rope etc.
The slide body and climbers may come as a prebuilt single piece, or could come in multiple parts that can be later assembled.
